“CLEVEDON Sailing Club was delighted to host a session for local sailors to try out the new D Zero racing dinghy.
The boat is built by Devoti, who also built the Finn dinghy, sailed by the great Sir Ben Ainslie, to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals.
The weather was perfect and Rodney Cobb, managing director of Suntouched Sailboats who distribute the D Zero in the UK, was delighted with the response to the boat.
Twelve sailors from Clevedon and Portishead tested the boat. All were impressed with its performance and handling in the tricky conditions often experienced at Clevedon. One member was so taken with the boat that he immediately placed an order for one.
Having never visited the area before, Rodney was pleasantly surprised by both the welcome and what Clevedon Sailing Club has to offer in terms of facilities, sailing conditions and the enthusiasm of club members.
So much so, that he would like to arrange open meeting dates for the D Zero and the Finn during the 2015 sailing season.”
