This coming weekend (21st/22nd November 2015) sees the start of the D-Zero Winter Series 2015/2016 at the Draycote Dash. It is also round one of the GJW Sailjuice Winter Series 2015.
There are currently 8 pre-entries for the event and 13 pre-entries for the GJW Sailjuice Winter Series in total making the D-Zero currently the largest individual class and, with last years D-Zero winter series winner and current Inland Champion David Summerville, 2015 National Championships runner up Ian Morgan and last years Winter Series runner up Russ Hopkins entered the sharp end of the D-Zero fleet promises to be as competitive as ever.
With the wind forecast looking to be on the breezy side Russ will definitely be fancying his chances of stealing a march on David and Ian. Dave Woods and Gordon Stewart could both also be fancying their chances of a good result having shown good speed at the recent Inland Championships once the breeze picked up.
Finally we should mention class newcomer Kevin Moll who is returning to dinghy sailing after a long absence while he sailed big boats. Not only is this Kevin’s first travelling it event it will also be he first ever competitive sail of his new D-Zero that he only took delivery of on the 13th November. Luckily for Kevin the more experienced people in the fleet have already offered him assistance in getting his boat unpacked and set up so he is ready to race.
A full report and results will follow.
