On the 28th and 29th November the D-Zero fleet gathered at Grafham water for a Training Day, sponsored by Suntouched Sailboats, followed by an open Meeting which was also Round 2 of the D-Zero Winter Series 2015/2016.

As people gathered at Grafham, chatting and helping to play musical boats with the weekend delivery there was much talk about how much sailing would actually be possible given the forecast.

Coach for the day, and D-Zero fleet front runner, David Summerville was ably assisted by local sailor and 2020 Olympic hopeful Karyna Manuel. After running a shore based session looking at rigging the fleet broke for lunch with the promise of some on the water action in the afternoon as the wind gods appeared to be being kind and the conditions looked to be sailable.

In the end 9 sailors took to the water and a great time was had by all. After a variety on the water exercises the fleet retired ashore for a video de-brief with many happy faces to be seen amongst the fleet.

Sadly the wind forecast for Sunday was all too accurate and the Open Meeting was cancelled early on the Sunday.

It is hoped to run the Open as part of the upcoming Grafham Grand Prix and extrapolate the results out so the excellent trophies made by Phoenix Marine can be awarded.

As a result of this event being cancelled the D-Zero Winter Series now drops to 8 events from 9. Still with 5 to count for the over all series.

The class AGM will also be re-scheduled and an announcement made shortly by the class committee.

As always there is plenty of chat taking place about the weekend events on the D-Zero Class Facebook group with some videos of the sailing uploaded to YouTube by Tom Southwell.
