Our friends at Sailing Southwest have put together a regional Winter Series for the 2017/2018 Winter Sailing season. We thought this may be of interest to D-Zero sailors in that area of the country so please read the press release below. We are going to be running the D-Zero Winter Series separately to this, more details to follow shortly when we finalise the events:

The SSW Winter Series is made up of ten races all based in the South West region of the UK, stretching from Penzance to Portishead! The events will take place between October 2017 to April 2018.

The events will be long-distance handicapped pursuit races or special event races that test a sailor’s mental steel and physical toughness and of course sailing skill in the challenging and varied conditions that make up a South West winter!

A competitor will need to compete at six of the ten events to qualify for the series. All entries should be made through the individual clubs. Although this is primarily a monohull series, several events will also welcome multihull and Gaffer fleets and we will run a separate series result for these boats – details tbc (depending on numbers of events and sailors).
